A Celebration of Resilience
In China, the plum blossom (mei-hua) is a particularly evocative symbol. The plum tree is the first tree to bloom each year, and even under the snow, it is considered the tree of resilience because it heralds spring.

Beyond this symbolism, plum blossoms are composed of five petals and represent the five elements of Taijiquan: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. This blossoming in the bitter cold, which returns unfailingly each year, suggests the strength of life, continuity, tenacity, health, and longevity.

Life reasserts itself.
